LG Business Solutions USA showcased its full line of MAGNIT DVLED (direct-view light emitting diode) displays at InfoComm 2023. Per the company, these displays enable large, cutting-edge screens to be deployed in various settings. These include corporate settings, on video production sets, as digital art displays and even for luxury residential applications.

LG’s five distinct LG MAGNIT models — led by a new 22-and-a-half-foot Micro LED display —  demonstrate the exceptional color, clarity, contrast and “wow factor” offered by DVLED technologies, the company says.

MAGNIT Family of DVLED Displays

“The MAGNIT family of DVLED displays offers integrators and clients some of the most striking, impactful digital screens on the market today,” remarks David Bacher, head of marketing for LG Business Solutions USA. “Whether it’s forming an extended reality backdrop on a professional video production set or displaying messaging or ads in a retail store or corporate lobby, LG’s MAGNIT technology delivers incredible experiences with a premium feel.”

Unveiled for the first time in the U.S. is the 272-inch LG MAGNIT 8K Micro LED Display (Model LSAB007), says LG. This display highlights how the tiny pixel pitch makes it an ideal solution for a variety of commercial use cases including retail, hospitality and corporate environments showing video or digital art content. This new Micro LED display offers a 0.78mm pixel pitch with LG’s Deep Black Technology and an impressive 150,000:1 contrast ratio to deliver stunning images with vivid colors, breathtaking contrast and ultra-fine detail.

Additional Features

The LSAB007’s Alpha 9 Intelligent Processor, integrated ambient light sensor, support for HDR10 and HDR10 Pro and wide 160-degree horizontal- and vertical-viewing angles enhance user experiences in any seating arrangement. Several layers of coated film help protect the LEDs from water drops, dust and physical impact.

Next is the MAGNIT Studio Series with Megapixel VR’s Helios controller, says LG. Model LBAG015 is a tile-based, 1.5mm pixel-pitch DVLED solution specially designed for on-camera use in professional production studios. The ability to present seamless, convincing video that can be used on camera without distortion is already empowering production studios to build extended reality and virtual reality stages where filming backdrops can be digitally designed and displayed in real time while recording.

Improved Technology

The curveable, high-contrast LBAG series displays offer actors and on-screen talent a more immersive experience than post-production or green screen solutions, while also enabling direct on-screen presentation capabilities for information or news programs. Controls including V-Sync, phase shift, color and gamma adjustment, customizable 3D-LUT and manual HDR adjustment ensure optimal operation in any environment.

To ensure every client can find a solution optimized for their needs, LG says it offers the same display technology and quality in the MAGNIT LBAF model. This also features LG’s powerful webOS controller.

Also featured at InfoComm is a new 163-inch model of the MAGNIT LSAQ009 series designed with a remote, off-board power supply unit (PSU) that greatly simplifies PSU replacement and emergency maintenance for vital 24/7 control room, war room and broadcast environments where display access is limited.

Another MAGNIT MicroLED display (model LSAB007) previews how the technology can be deployed for high-end residential installations. According to the company, the display comes with even greater definition and clarity now possible through the just-released residential LSAL006 series that offers LG’s smallest LED pixel pitch.

As educators wrestle with shifting standards and the challenge of engaging today’s students, Indian Creek School, a private Pre-K-12 institution based in Crownsville, Maryland, is innovating its own “classroom of the future” with a shift toward project-based learning and a strengthened focus on using the latest classroom technologies to enhance lessons for both teachers and students.

The Tech Challenge

One of the most impactful changes to date is the addition of a dozen new interactive display boards that greatly enhance teacher flexibility and lesson planning. While the school had implemented classroom displays years earlier, most teachers found them to be over-complicated and relented to using only basic functions. After reviewing several brands of classroom displays recommended by colleagues at other schools, none met the technology staff’s expectations. As chance would have it, the school’s Director of Educational Technology found the answer in an advertisement for a product she hadn’t seen before: LG CreateBoard, a powerful and easy-to-use multi-touch interactive display board from LG Business Solutions.

The LG CreateBoard Solution

student using LG CreateBoard in classroomWith LG CreateBoards, teachers can easily augment lessons with presentations or videos, screen share lessons or content from their own devices, allow multiple students to write on the board simultaneously and enable students to screen share projects from their own devices. The new boards were implemented for the 2022-23 school year, replacing aging smart board solutions that no longer lived up to the school’s expectations.

“With our previous classroom smart boards having so many features and being so complicated, it felt as if the teachers were given a chef’s kitchen when they only wanted to make mac-n-cheese,” says Sara White, Indian Creek School’s director of educational technology. “Teachers weren’t cooking up sophisticated lessons because the technology required overly complicated setup, so the boards simply weren’t serving the purpose we intended. We were paying for features and software that were never used. After our staff performed hands-on evaluations of many of the most popular interactive display board products available today, we determined that the LG CreateBoard checked all our boxes, from build quality, reliability and intuitive operations to pricing and mobile use capabilities.”

The Installation

Having located a solution that’s simple to use and presents more opportunity for student engagement, the school purchased the interactive digital boards to be used on mobile carts: ten 75-inch models that rotate between classrooms, another 75-inch model that provides messaging in the cafeteria, and a massive 86-inch model that stays in the library for various uses. The school’s choice to implement LG CreateBoards also significantly reduced the required budget and enabled the purchase of a 3D printer and a professional laser cutter for a new Innovation Lab, giving students even greater access to the latest learning and creativity tools.

“Today’s students and parents who have spent their whole lives using mobile and interactive devices are increasingly weighing a school’s technology integration when choosing where to attend,” says Victoria Sanville, LG’s national sales manager for the public sector vertical. “As alternative educational funding structures spread to more districts, these prospective students may consider a potential school’s hybrid learning options, media or digital production facilities, collaborative tools and other high-tech capabilities. LG CreateBoards can form a major component of a school’s technological offerings and prove to newcomers that all students are given enhanced and individualized learning opportunities.”

LG CreateBoard Use Cases in the Classroom

Whether a language teacher shows instructional content to demonstrate mouth movements and pronunciation, or a coach plays video from yesterday’s game to improve teamwork, there are applications for virtually every discipline. Indian Creek School is also using the CreateBoard with a low-height stand to help 4-, 5- and 6-year-olds with handwriting and reading.

From sixth grade up, students at Indian Creek School are welcome to use their own personal devices for certain classroom activities, while school facilities provide access to software tools such as the Adobe Creative Cloud and 3D modeling software. Classroom activities have already included making advertising pitches, coding video games and creating a graphical thumbnail in Adobe Photoshop. These projects can then be shared wirelessly to the CreateBoards to enable student presentations.

“The LG CreateBoard provides a valuable set of presentation and collaborative tools that enhance student engagement and provide teachers much greater flexibility in arranging and managing their classrooms,” White adds. “Even seemingly simple functions, such as reliable and easy to use screen sharing, can transform a classroom, allowing teachers to move around as they show a presentation or to help individual students without losing control of video content. Our goal is to provide every student with the best possible education, and that requires giving our teachers effective technology tools like the LG CreateBoard that can be used every day without complication.”

Staff also cited unrivaled service from LG Business Solutions, noting that they had never before been provided a technician’s cell phone number to assist with early troubleshooting and setup. The school’s future plans include upgrading the library CreateBoard to an upcoming 98-inch-model and to consider additional digital signage opportunities to share school messaging.

When technology solutions provider Insight Enterprises set out to build a new 200,000-square-foot headquarters in Chandler, Ariz., the company’s leaders seized on the opportunity to design workspaces and common areas that deliver immersive technological experiences and demonstrate the firm’s capabilities to employees and visitors. Named Insight Way, the company’s new Gensler-designed headquarters showcases its own installation and design prowess with help from LG digital displays that outfit one of the building’s most unique and public tech areas.

Insight Way Design

“The moment someone enters this building, they are surrounded by innovative technologies,” says Matt Skaff, Insight’s director of IT. “From the rotating displays and touch screen tables in the lobby to the digital smart boards found in various meeting spaces, the building’s design offers everything needed for efficient meetings and communication, while also displaying our own systems design knowledge. One of the most unique ideas is the three Boulevards, which are hallway installations that feature multiple LG 88-inch UltraStretch displays that brighten when approached.”

The main Boulevard is an entrance hallway just past the lobby, making it one of the most high-traffic areas in the entire building. Knowing this, the company decided it would be an ideal space to highlight employee stories, company successes, value statements and messages welcoming honored guests.

The LG Display Solution

All three Boulevard hallways feature vertically mounted LG UltraStretch displays (model 88BH7G-B) that are angled slightly off the wall in a custom cabinet solution Insight calls a Prism, giving the space a professional aesthetic. The Prisms are designed to mimic the letter I in Insight’s logo to further the feeling of a branded environment.

Each Prism unit includes a motion sensor that detects a viewer’s distance, enabling automatic adjustment of the screen’s brightness and contrast to optimize visibility when viewers approach. This special feature ensures the displays aren’t overly distracting to those who pass by, while providing meaningful experiences for anyone who approaches to learn more. For content reproduction, a picture-by-picture feature can divide the screen into four sub-screens, each with its own individual video input, allowing Insight to display multiple different messages at one time.

As an added benefit, the auto-brightness function can also reduce total energy costs and extend the working life of the displays. LG’s Stretch ultra-wide or ultra-tall HD displays can be installed in any orientation to turn columns, doorway overhangs and other non-standard locations into attractive and profitable digital signage endpoints. The displays’ 32:9 aspect ratio and 700 nits of brightness help deliver eye-catching moments in each of the three hallways.

“These installations are in view all day, every day, so it is critical that we utilize reliable digital displays that will last for years and can be tied in with content systems for easy, rapid content delivery,” Skaff adds. “The new drag-and-drop content system we set up is vastly more efficient than prior office signage solutions, and the technologies have advanced so far that we now have hundreds of displays throughout the building with different sizes, tied into a single content system.”

Skaff notes that when new internal teams or clients visit the office for the first time, they consistently rave about the architecture and the technology, including the ‘wow’ factor experienced when walking by the Prism displays.

LG Displays for a variety of collaborative spaces at Insight Way

Insight Way emphasizes “collaborative” zones, including formal meeting spaces ranging from small-group focus rooms to the Crown Room auditorium and training areas that accommodate up to 300 people. Rooms are adorned with digital smartboards to accommodate hybrid meetings, “writeable” walls and ad hoc conference booking, and there is ample individual “hotel” workspace for visiting remote workers.

According to Tom Carroll, director, commercial displays at LG Business Solutions USA, Insight’s use of technology demonstrates the exciting possibilities that can be achieved by designing creative and unique experiences in virtually any setting.

“In many ways, Insight’s new global headquarters resets standard expectations to include novel technology interactions and a variety of collaborative spaces equipped with remote communications technologies,” Carroll says. “The custom-designed Prisms are both a proof-of-concept and an advertising mechanism that we can easily envision hanging on the walls of corporate HQs, retail spaces, transportation hubs and other high-traffic pedestrian locations. We’re thrilled that our displays are part of this forward-thinking project and are excited to see what Insight will do next.”

Insight Way Sustainable Technologies

Insight Way was designed to achieve Gold LEED certification and utilizes sustainable technologies to reduce impact, including solar panels, sensor-based automatic window shutters, an HVAC ionization system, and smart temperature and lighting control. The building also features an abundance of natural lighting and 800 indoor trees and plants to improve air quality and reduce teammate fatigue.

With remote and hybrid work here to stay, unified communication and collaboration apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Google Meet and others have become popular tools for organizations everywhere over the last two years. Users everywhere began and ended their workdays in a video call, and the use of these apps will continue as long as organizations continue to embrace a work-from-anywhere approach.

As offices reopen as part of a distributed work strategy, IT teams are getting even more responsibilities as organizations look to build out new or refreshed conferencing spaces to accommodate their hybrid workers.

However, in this new environment where smaller conferencing spaces or huddle rooms are in demand to meet the needs of the hybrid workforce, not every conferencing spaces needs elaborate and complex videoconferencing systems. Especially as the software platforms are introducing more intelligent video and audio features, these smaller meeting spaces need only simple hardware solutions that IT can easily deploy and manage.

That is where all-in-one videoconferencing displays comes in. These devices, from manufacturers such as Microsoft, LG, Cisco, Neat and others, come packaged with everything an organization needs in their conference room. The displays typically include a high-quality display, camera, speakers and microphone all in one.

This takes the complexity and cost out of meeting room solutions, eliminating the need to install and integrate sperate displays, microphones, cameras and speakers.

Many  displays come with built-in intelligent audio and video features that filter out unwanted noise and automatically frame in-person participants so everyone is heard equally.

LG and Amazon have partnered to develop the first integration of Alexa for Hospitality with the display manufacturer’s line of hotel TVs using its webOS smart TV platform.

Announced during hospitality technology trade show HITEC 2022, the integration will allow hotels to upgrade new and existing LG hotel TVs running webOS 6.0 or 5.0 to offer guests a custom Alexa solution through LG’s far field microphone array accessory.

According to LG, the new microphone will enable hotel operators to offer a natural language interface for TV and music navigation, enabling guests to connect with specific hospitality functions such as ordering room service, pulling up a customized weather report, integrating with in-room devices for smart lighting and motorized window shades and climate controls.

The companies say the new integration was developed with guest privacy and security in mind, as properties won’t have access to voice recordings, and information about the speaker’s identity is not shared with Amazon.

The far field microphone is compatible with LG TV networks using Pro:Centric Direct software, which makes the TV become a control hub for compatible wireless smart devices without the need for a standalone control system.

For communication with guests, the solution gives hotel staff another way to communicate important information while keeping costs low across device installations. Customers will get a streamlined experience across devices in their room, and staff can use the solution to develop custom announcements leveraging both on-screen and audio communication for event announcements, check-out reminders and more.

The microphone array accessory is powered through a TV’s USB port and mounts to the top of the set. LG says its far field microphone array can respond to requests once it is activated by guests upon arrival using the Alexa wake word. Guests can also use a mute button to turn off voice control and use a standard remote.

The 65-inch OLED Pro display provides users with a UHD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate capability. The 65EP5G combines more than 8 million, self-illuminated RGBW pixels with advanced calibration capabilities to deliver reference-level images.

LG says the display comes with its proprietary SuperSign software for white balance, and the 65-inch monitor natively supports the Calman calibration software.

LG says the 65-inch model also supports 1D and 3D lookup tables (LUTs), as well as multiple color-accurate profiles for fast and easy switching between calibrated modes.

Other benefits the 65EP5G display provides include quick access to on-screen options such as markers, zoom, timecode, and audio meters. A profile button also provides the ability for instant switching between user presets for monitor settings and picture-quality settings

Additionally, LG emphasizes the 65-inch OLED Pro model incorporates a customizable user interface (UI) to differentiate the display from consumer televisions, and the selection of 20 calibratable 1D LUTs with Dolby Vision HDR and 100 calibratable 3D LUTs.

The UI allows users to select 10 1D LUTs for SDR, as well as 10 LUTs for HDR that can be set to different white points, PQ tracking and/or SDR gamma performance. The 3D LUTs also support a choice of color spaces, including Rec. 709 and BT.2020.

Input options include four loop-through 12G SDI ports that enable a single monitor to display up to four Full HD feeds simultaneously. There are also HDMI, IP (SFP+ and RJ45) and Genlock connections.

LG explains the Genlock option is used for on-camera and virtual production applications.

Color profiles supported include P3, Adobe RGB and sRGB. The 65-inch OLED Pro monitor also provides HDR10, Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR support.

The smaller 32EP950 and 27EP950 OLED Pro desktop models can be used for HDR and SDR color timing, VFX editing, on-set monitoring, photo editing and other professional applications. LG’s business solutions division notes the 26.5-inch 27EP950 and 31.5-inch 32EP950 provide features such as VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black, and options for stable mount installations.

“The LG UltraFine Display OLED Pro is the ultimate OLED monitor for every professional’s desk, delivering the performance and features required for efficiently tackling today’s most demanding digital content tasks,” adds Nandhakumar.

With the new One:Quick product line from LG, organizations can now leverage an All-in-One solution that introduces unprecedented flexibility into the modern office, helps collaboration, reduces the burden on IT, and streamlines meetings.

Many organizations have adapted to working remotely, and employees have also adapted to the new ways of working, turning their homes into offices, and embracing technology such as video conferencing and collaboration.

As organizations transition back to the office, employees will demand the same level of functionality they experienced at home while working from their laptops during the pandemic. However, they want a simple, easy-to-deploy solution that doesn’t involve elaborate cabling needs, additional equipment and infrastructure that is tied to just one meeting platform.

Fortunately, LG has taken the opportunity amid these changes to develop the optimal solution for working in any setting.

The One:Quick Series: A new communication solution from LG

Featuring the 55-inch One:Quick Works, the 43-inch One:Quick Flex, and the One:Quick Share wireless screen sharing device, LG’s newest collaboration product line provides an innovative communication solution for a new era of hybrid work.

The One:Quick Series provides an intuitive experience that enhances productivity and collaboration, taking office communications to a whole new level of convenience and ease, while reducing the need for expensive and complicated meeting room systems.

Thanks to the last two years of remote work, the collaboration software industry is ultra-competitive, with major players constantly releasing new features and interfaces to gain a competitive advantage over other providers. That can lead to a difficult decision when choosing which platform to standardize on, but LG’s One:Quick Series provides users with the ultimate flexibility to switch from platform to platform.

LG’s advanced One:Quick Series displays are optimized for maximum productivity

The One:Quick Series helps keep video conferencing and collaboration easy and seamless while delivering an effective conferencing solution that simplifies the installations for an online meeting. These displays include everything you need for video conferencing: a built-in camera, microphone, speaker, in-cell touch screen and Windows PC—all in one package.

Both LG One:Quick Works and One:Quick Flex displays feature:

  • LG’s 4K UHD Display
  • A built-in Windows 10 IoT Enterprise PC for a familiar, easy-to-use and intuitive user experience

Which of these two products would be a benefit to your meeting room needs?

The One:Quick Works is a 55-inch, All-in-One video conferencing display optimized for a meeting room for 5-6 people. Users can expect to upgrade their work productivity and enhance their workspace aesthetics. As a 2021 Red Dot Design Award winner, the One:Quick Works’ sleek and modern design blends seamlessly into the meeting environment.

  • Desk stand/wall mount (VESA)

For smaller groups or individuals looking for a more flexible solution that can be installed on a movable stand or placed on a desk, LG offers the winner of CES 2022 Innovation Awards, the One:Quick Flex, a 43-inch All-in-One video conferencing display optimized for private offices or collaboration spaces. Mounted on the floor stand, it can be relocated to any indoor space.

The One:Quick Flex features:

The One:Quick Share provides a professional, easy-to-use screen sharing solution for in-room meetings

The One:Quick Series also includes the One:Quick Share, a plug-and-play wireless screen-sharing solution that allows users to seamlessly share their screens with compatible LG digital signage models.

LG One:Quick Share

The One:Quick share features:

  • Seamless screen sharing with compatible LG signage (up to 4 screens can be shared simultaneously, and up to 10 sources can be switched and connected)
  • The ability to control display settings such as volume, picture mode, brightness and more

The One:Quick Share may be small, but it can bring your work/meeting environment to a whole new level of functionality and ease-of-use.

Meeting the demands of the hybrid workforce

The hybrid workforce demands solutions that are intuitive, versatile and enhance productivity, and the One:Quick series checks all those boxes.

According to the Microsoft Work Trends Index, extreme flexibility and hybrid work will define the post-pandemic office. The survey found that 70% of workers want flexible remote work options to continue, while over 65% want more in-person time with their teams.

To prepare, 66% of business decision-makers are considering an overhaul of physical spaces to better accommodate hybrid work environments.

Organizations can optimize their workplace, meeting spaces, and home offices with the innovative collaboration technologies provided by the LG One:Quick Series.

These products make business more productive and convenient, taking the hassle out of connecting different devices to a complicated conference room installation, while providing a seamless collaboration experience designed for a new way of working.

The One:Quick Series integrates the tools needed for successful meetings, including video conferencing, screen-sharing, collaboration and more—in one complete solution.

LG Business Solutions has released its CreateBoard line interactive display category for the education market featuring multi-touch technology and support for a wide range of learning management systems, cloud drives and online conferencing platforms.

According to the company, its 2022 interactive displays, rebranded under the LG CreateBoard moniker, include additional peripheral products such as mounts, mobile carts and a new Open Pluggable Specification system for adding a computer module.

The displays are designed to support flexible learning environments—such as remote or hybrid learning—while providing educators more engaging teaching tools and maximum utility through open-source compatibility with leading software platforms, says Victoria Sanville, education account leader at LG Business Solutions USA.

“Addressing a variety of needs for in-person, remote and blended learning, our purpose-built solutions help educators meet students where they are and develop more customized lessons as educational institutions increasingly embrace personalized learning,” Sanville says.

According to LG, the launch of the rebranded display line reflects the company’s increased investment in the education space, which includes a team of subject matter experts and new support structures that make it easier for IT and budget managers to select and deploy the company’s technology.

LG’s press release also suggests that the company is pushing its single-supplier solutions to help customers improve reliability, reduce complications from using incompatible products and simplify training and maintenance for IT staff.

The CreateBoard displays are available in three sizes: 65, 75 and 86 inches. The displays feature IPS display panels for wide viewing angles and 4K Ultra HD resolution.

The displays also include a 20-point multi-touch surface to facilitate on-screen collaboration while an ultra-thin gap between the IPS screen and anti-glare, tempered glass screen ensures precise touch accuracy.

The CreateBoard series comes embedded with the Android operating system and an optional OPS slot for adding a computer module.

LG says the displays can support “virtually any application, content management system, learning platform or online conferencing solution” deployed by the customer.

The displays are also Wi-Fi-enabled out of the box, and screen-sharing features allow educators to show up to six screens at once from any mobile device that supports wireless mirroring.

For audio, the displays include two built-in front-facing speakers, and embedded Bluetooth enables users to connect external speakers, keyboards, mice and other devices.

Additional connections include three HDMI ports, one RS-232C port, audio in/out, RJ-45 LAN ports and six USB 2.0/3.0 ports.

The displays also feature USB Block Mode to prevent copying data to an unauthorized device.

Visit the company’s website for more information about the displays, warranties and purchasing options.
