How to write a VoIP technology RFP, choose VoIP technology partners and implement VoIP technology
First telephones were connected by landlines; next you could reach people through your cable service. Now there’s Voice over IP (VoIP).
Our free download, “The Technology Manager’s Guide: Tips for Buying VoIP Technology,” points out that VoIP systems:
- Give a better end user experience because everything is in one platform
- Provide a more robust failover capability with backups through multiple connections, traditional copper lines or wireless access
- Increase reliability and functionality by bundling services and needing less infrastructure
Getting buy-in from key stakeholders revolves around which is the more important consideration: cost savings or added functions, such as video/collaboration services.
And the first step in the process is to make sure your existing structured cabling is tested and certified to support VoIP. Just because it works well for your data network doesn’t mean that it’s robust enough to meet your commnunication needs.
