Editor’s Note: This press release was originally published on March 28, 2022 and since has been updated as of August 12, 2024.

PALO ALTO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Virgin Media O2 UK has selected VMware to help modernise its network and enable the continued success of its 5G rollout. The company will leverage VMware Telco Cloud Infrastructure to rapidly design, build, test and implement virtualised network functions, boosting innovation across its network and the delivery of new services. The collaboration has underpinned the deployment of Virgin Media O2’s 5G network over the past 16 months.

VMware’s Telco Cloud Infrastructure delivers a single horizontal platform enabling Virgin Media O2 to simplify, scale, and better protect its core cloud networks. Operating a reliable, agile network that can be efficiently upgraded to maintain quality of coverage is fundamental to the success of Virgin Media O2’s 5G network – particularly in highly regulated and competitive markets.

Virgin Media O2 will also leverage VMware Tanzu for Telco’s Kubernetes cluster capabilities to build Containers as a Service (CaaS) proficiency. This will support the next generation of containerised network functions and enable Virgin Media O2 to maintain and expand the network’s ability to support multi-vendor solutions. Being able to onboard functions and interoperate between different vendors is essential in rapid deployment. VMware’s common platform enables Virgin Media O2 to add these incrementally.

“As the rollout of 5G networks comes close to completion, service providers need to be able to modernise their network infrastructure quickly, simply, and economically. The best way to do this is through a single platform that can automate and streamline delivery of multi-vendor network functions,” said Sanjay Uppal, senior vice president and general manager, Service Provider & Edge, VMware. “Through its work with VMware, Virgin Media O2 is able to deploy a network infrastructure that enables the successful roll out of its 5G services without limitations, by harnessing the agility, flexibility, and consistency of a common platform.”

Chris Buggie, Director of Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering & Delivery, Virgin Media O2, said, “Virtualising and modernising our network is essential if we are to cement our position as the leading telco provider across UK and EU and we are delighted to partner with VMware to achieve this. By utilising a consistent, NFV- and cloud-native platform for onboarding and managing our workloads and network functions, we are able reinvest into the network and our customers with a service we can be proud of.”

Catches New and Unusual Fraudulent Device Setups and Reduces False Positives on Legitimate Users and Transactions

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#FraudPreventionSEON, the fraud fighters, today unveiled modern digital device fingerprinting capabilities designed to identify and counter the latest internet and mobile fraud tactics used by sophisticated fraudsters and bots.

Fraudsters increasingly use unusual device setups to speed their efforts. Device fingerprinting can combat this by analyzing users’ software and hardware configurations to determine if they are legitimate. Based on ongoing research from SEON’s data science team, this update adds new and revised checks and risk scoring to profiles and accurately stops the latest fraudster device setups. This makes it more challenging for fraudsters to trick systems and reduces false positives on real users and legitimate transactions.

SEON’s fraud detection solution also protects against tactics specifically used with mobile devices, including burner phones, virtual numbers, and disposable phone numbers. This includes protection against new, sophisticated threats like the ERMAC trojan, which spreads over phones using the Android operating system and can potentially compromise bank accounts.

“New malware-as-a-service threats like ERMAC are being developed every day, but even the most well-made malware leaves fingerprints that SEON’s advanced AI can detect,” said Jimmy Fong, Chief Commercial Officer at SEON. “We’ve dramatically simplified the effort it takes for merchants to fight the ever-changing tactics of fraudsters and bots.”

SEON uses advanced AI and more than 500 parameters to identify fraud and protect more than 5,000 online merchants every day. Its solutions dramatically simplify the deployment and use of fraud detection technologies with trials and pay-as-you-go pricing that scales with businesses as they grow revenues and customers. Only SEON openly shares new findings on fraud behavior patterns with transparent risk scoring decisions to help customers learn and adapt to rapidly changing fraud behaviors.

State of Data Visualization report finds organizations struggle to share in real-time and have ongoing concerns around data security.

MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#avtweeps–Skykit, a leader in digital signage and workplace experience solutions, today announced the findings of its first ever State of Data Visualization report, exploring how companies approach the task of sharing data visualizations across the enterprise. Overall, survey respondents indicated they are increasingly sharing data dashboards to drive employee engagement, but are challenged to find secure solutions that deliver in real-time and integrate with their data analytics platforms.

The most popular methods for sharing data visualizations do not support real-time data updates, as indicated by the survey respondents. Of those responding, 42% still share graphics using USB drives and another 42% email graphics. At this time, only 40% of companies share their data via broadcast tools, like digital signage, some of which have real-time update capabilities.

The survey found that when IT managers invest in sharing data visualizations via digital signage, nearly three-fourths can tie the solution directly to ROI, with 81% saying it contributed to increased employee engagement, 67% to faster movement of goods, and 58% to reduced time spent on maintenance. Of those sharing data dashboards on digital signage solutions, 32% said their solution can update data across the enterprise in real time, while 39% said the tool updated data every minute.

“The shift to sharing data visualizations via digital signage is underway, and the results speak for themselves – more than four-fifths of users have more engaged employees,” said Irfan Khan, Skykit CEO. “Whether dashboards are shared in the boardrooms, the breakrooms, or the warehouse floor, we’re seeing that true ROI is tied to the ability to share data dashboards in real time.”

Still, IT managers say some digital signage providers aren’t quite meeting their expectations for broadcasting data dashboards. 97% of users said they eliminated a potential solution during the sales process based on the provider’s weak security protocols.

Security challenges will increase as more businesses look to return to the office post COVID-19. Nearly two-thirds, 60%, said they will need to share real-time updates with remote and hybrid workers. Businesses will also look to invest more in screens to modernize their workspaces, with 47% saying they will purchase new screens to increase employee engagement, and 36% looking to communicate business-critical information via screens throughout the enterprise.

We know from the findings that users need their digital signage tools working as quickly as possible, with as few additional investments as possible,” Khan said. “It’s on providers to ensure we’re safely and efficiently rolling out signage technology – getting solutions live quickly, with easy integration into existing data visualization tools.”

For more findings from the State of Data Visualization 2022, including the security tools respondents said were most important, and the spaces where IT managers are most frequently broadcasting data, download the full report. Grand opening in Chandler, Arizona, represents a modern workplace for collaboration and innovation, with technology empowering anywhere work and sustainability at its heart

CHANDLER, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ:NSIT), a Fortune 500 solutions integrator helping organizations accelerate their digital journey, today welcomed local innovation leaders to the grand opening of Insight Way, Insight’s new global headquarters based in Chandler, Arizona, designed as a modern workplace for the hybrid, anywhere worker.

The more than 200,000-square-foot innovation hub, located at 2701 E. Insight Way, emphasizes collaboration via 83 meeting spaces, and mobility through technology that allows Insight’s 1,400 Arizona teammates to transition effortlessly between collaborative teamwork in the office and individual work at home or anywhere else.

Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke; Insight co-founder Tim Crown, CEO Joyce Mullen and CFO Glynis Bryan; Colleen Flannery, CTO of Chandler Unified School District; and Dr. Greg Peterson, Chandler-Gilbert Community College president and Chandler Chamber of Commerce board chair.

“Cutting the ribbon today for our new headquarters is a proud milestone for all of us,” said Mullen. “This gorgeous building is an impressive representation of the journey Insight has taken — more than 30 years of ambitious goals and decisions as bold and bright as our fuchsia brand.”

Mayor Hartke said during the ceremony: “We are delighted to welcome Insight, which has emerged in the decades since its founding to become an industry-recognized, global solutions integrator. The work they do to help accelerate digital business and modern workplaces often occurs in the background. Yet they provide critical guidance and expertise, helping transform some of the world’s largest brands and enterprises.”

Insight’s evolution since opening in 1988 in Tempe, Arizona, and the move to a bigger and more modern facility, mark the company’s homegrown success and emergence as a leading solutions integrator. The company has grown from a garage business originally selling computer hard drives into one of Arizona’s top five companies, a $9.4 billion provider of solutions spanning all aspects of modern IT that transform the world’s top brands into digitally driven businesses. The organization has grown to nearly 12,000 teammates across 19 countries.

“We are proud Insight has opened its innovative global headquarters in Chandler,” said Sandra Watson, president and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “An admired global company, and one with Arizona roots, Insight has been at the forefront of innovation for over 30 years. Insight’s new headquarters will continue to drive economic growth, furthering Arizona as a premier destination for technology.”

Insight Way emphasizes “collaborative” zones, including formal meeting spaces ranging from small-group focus rooms to the Crown Room auditorium and training areas that accommodate up to 300 people. Rooms are decked with digital smartboards to accommodate hybrid meetings, writeable walls and ad hoc conference booking, and there is ample individual “hotel” workspace for visiting remote workers.

Informal meeting areas and amenities for teammates, partners and clients include a branded coffee shop called H3 (celebrating the company’s hunger, heart and harmony values); Café Fuchsia, a full-service cafeteria; health clinic, fitness facility, library and mother’s rooms.

The Innovation Center provides an interactive experience to help clients visualize how Insight’s digital transformation expertise can address their digital challenges.

As Insight Way is built for Gold LEED certification, technology also drives sustainability, including: solar panels covering parking areas to provide 80% of the facility’s energy consumption during peak hours, sensor-based window shutters that automatically open and close based on sun/UV intensity, an HVAC ionization system, and smart temperature and lighting. The building also features an abundance of natural lighting and 800 indoor trees and plants to improve air quality and reduce teammate fatigue.

“Insight Way is designed to be a center of innovation excellence. The technology allows us to transition effortlessly between work at home and in the office,” said Bryan, Insight’s CFO. “This is a place where group problem-solving and creativity can thrive — everything intentionally revolves around networking and movement to inspire the type of teamwork and productivity that generates the best solutions for our clients.”

The carbon-negative Layer-1 leads Web3’s regenerative finance (ReFi) movement to offset the world’s carbon footprint.

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Following the Uniswap community’s approval to deploy on Celo, the Celo Foundation, along with the Climate Collective, partners and community, launches Uniswap V3 and green-asset pools to help further a regenerative financial (ReFi) system and currencies supported by natural capital on the blockchain. Uniswap’s capital-efficient decentralized exchange brings access and liquidity to the voluntary carbon market, paving the way for Climate Collective partners to begin integrating ‘programmable carbon’ and accelerate climate action.

The Celo Foundation’s DeFi for the People initiative has further pledged a total of $10M to support ReFi liquidity to create decentralized financial (DeFi) products and services that promote a regenerative rather than extractive economy, and encourage adoption of the pools on Uniswap V3.

This is Celo’s first phase of #ReFiSummer, a social media movement promoting awareness for regenerative economics while encouraging investors and protocols to meaningfully participate in global voluntary carbon markets. As part of #ReFiSummer, Uniswap users will be able to explore the Celo ecosystem and take climate-positive action over the season-long program.

To kick things off on Uniswap, the Climate Collective and the Celo Foundation will seed liquidity across several pools, beginning with the Moss carbon credit token pool CELO / MCO2 and CELO / wETH. The wETH pair will help users bridge from other EVM-compatible chains to acquire MCO2 and future ReFi assets launching on Celo’s carbon-negative blockchain.

“At Celo, we have always sought to reimagine traditional financial systems with a regenerative approach, by ascribing value to natural capital and recognizing people as unique and connected––the core values from which our foundation was built. With early DeFi protocols maturing, we are proud to galvanize and support builders and partners, from Uniswap to the Climate Collective, as well as the broader community, promoting increased awareness and adoption for ReFi products within our Celo ecosystem and beyond.” – Rene Reinsberg, President, Celo Foundation & Co-Founder, Celo

Celo hopes to strengthen web3’s ReFi ecosystem by:

  • Offsetting CO2 with every transaction on its L1, totalling 3,168.4 tons to date
  • Creating green asset liquidity pools with natural capital-backed assets such as tokenized carbon credits (e.g. MCO2, GNT, and NCT) and future nature backed assets, like land and forests, circulating on Celo
  • Pledging to provide $10M to support ReFi liquidity
  • Bringing Uniswap V3’s increased capital efficiency to the 6B smartphone users around the world
  • Continuing to use Celo and Uniswap’s decentralized governance processes to increase, if approved, the Mento Reserve with nature-backed assets.
  • Fostering pathways for future climate action use cases on Uniswap

About Celo

Celo is a carbon-negative, permissionless, layer-1 protocol with a rich ecosystem of global partners building innovative Web3 applications within the DeFi, ReFi, and NFT sectors on Celo in support of its community’s mission to create a more inclusive global financial system. Accessible to anyone with a mobile phone, the Celo ecosystem consists of a decentralized, proof-of-stake blockchain technology stack (the Celo Protocol), the CELO token, and several Mento Protocol stable assets (cUSD, cEUR, cREAL) that make it easy for anyone to use crypto like cash or other types of currency —every day. Milestone is a commitment to operational excellence, product integrity, and customer satisfaction as Sila scales production of its next-generation silicon anode material.

ALAMEDA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sila, a next-generation battery materials company, today announced it has earned an ISO 9001 certification. Many global automotive, consumer electronics, and cell phone makers require ISO certification from their suppliers and partners. With this certification, Sila begins to establish its preparedness to satisfy the needs of these industries worldwide.

ISO 9001 is a global standard for effective Quality Management Systems (QMS). Millions of companies and organizations across 170 countries are certified to this standard, which has a strong focus on the delivery of consistent, high-quality products to customers. Sila’s certification to this global standard is part of its roadmap for scaling their next-generation silicon anode material at its current Alameda plant and its newly purchased 600,000+ sq. ft. plant in Moses Lake, Washington. The initial capacity of the new plant will produce enough anode material to power batteries in up to 500,000 premium electric vehicles and 500 million mobile phones annually, beginning in the second half of 2024. Mercedes-Benz has recently disclosed that it will incorporate Sila’s anode material in an upcoming fully electric G-Class model.

“This ISO 9001 certification is proof of our dedication to not only create the highest performing next-gen silicon anode on the market, but also manufacture it at world-scale volumes, while maintaining the highest level of product quality for our customers,” said Bill Mulligan, COO of Sila. “And this goes beyond the production floor. Our entire company is focused on operational excellence, continual improvement, and the standard set by ISO 9001. This is what’s required to properly serve premium global customers like Mercedes-Benz and others we’re in conversations with, and it gives us a strong foundation to continue to push the boundaries of battery material innovation.”

“Sila’s commitment to quality is as impressive as the technology they are dedicated to advance,” said Barbara Frencia, Business Assurance CEO in DNV, the registrar that certified Sila to ISO 9001. “During the certification process, we found Sila to be both transparent and accountable, demonstrating the willingness and ability to quickly adapt and improve. These are key traits to build quality leadership and stakeholder trust.”

Sila works to enhance all aspects of battery performance, produce quality-controlled silicon anode materials at massive scale, and support implementation to ensure customers achieve their goals and safety requirements for shipping products. After ten years of research and development and 55,000 iterations, the Sila team was the first to industrialize and make commercially available a next generation lithium-ion chemistry with dramatically higher energy density. Sila materials power WHOOP 4.0, the world’s most advanced fitness tracker. The same materials technology from Sila will be produced at the Moses Lake facility to power electric vehicles, mobile phones, and other consumer electronics.

More companies realizing efficiencies and cutting costs using Veryfi technology

SAN MATEO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AIMLVeryfi, using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to transform documents into structured data in just seconds, has announced continued strong business momentum and growth in the second quarter.

As economic concerns increase, many companies begin to reduce their staff to control costs; 88 percent of job loss in routine occupations occurs within 12 months of a recession. While economic uncertainty continues, Veryfi has emerged as a trusted, reliable partner for companies seeking greater efficiency and stronger customer relationships, continuing its strong annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth. In the second quarter, Veryfi added over a dozen new logos and major accounts including a top supplier of enterprise resource planning software and one of the world’s largest CRM/Direct Marketing Network companies.

“As companies seek new ways to increase efficiency and manage costs to position themselves for a challenging economy, Veryfi is leading the way, applying AI to automate routine data entry and streamline business processes,” said Ernest Semerda, co-founder and CEO of Veryfi. “In Q2, we welcomed over a dozen new customers and multiple strategic accounts spanning key use cases from loyalty marketing to intelligent automation for accounts payable. We are seeing cross-market demand for our Veryfi technology.”

The Veryfi AI-driven optical character recognition (OCR) software is pre-trained on hundreds of millions of documents delivering Day 1 Accuracy* so that companies accelerate their time to value and start achieving efficiency gains in hours, not months. An integration to Veryfi via its application programming interface (API) can take as little as five lines of code, across a broad range of popular programming languages, mobile frameworks, and operating systems. Once integrated, customers accelerate data extraction by a multiple of 200 times, cutting time spent from 10 minutes to 3 seconds per document, with a 10 times reduction in error rates when compared with manual data entry.

After its strong Q1, and coming off the successful launch of the latest Veryfi Lens mobile receipt capture SDK, the company is extending its leadership position as go-to technology for Direct-to-Consumer and Loyalty Marketing campaigns. As consumer packaged goods and loyalty marketing companies recognize the immense value and consumer insights that become available from the data included in receipts, they are increasingly seeking accurate and secure technology as the basis for their programs.

The strong growth continues momentum from the first quarter when Veryfi won globally-recognized customers including the largest retail property group in the southern hemisphere with $22 billion in retail assets under management, and the largest home improvement retailer in the U.S.

Eliminating manual data entry, Veryfi enables organizations to accurately capture, extract and transform documents such as receipts, invoices, purchase orders, checks, credit cards, and W-2s into structured data, at scale. Veryfi uses advanced AI/ML technology, trained by hundreds of millions of documents over the past four years, to extract data and transform it into a structured format for 85 currencies, 39 languages, and 90 defined fields such as total, tax, VAT, SKU, vendor, invoice number, which can then be accessed for a wide variety of business applications.
