ViewSonic Corp., the Calif.-based global provider of visual solutions, has partnered with Crestron Electronics Inc. to elevate integration convenience across device management. Crestron, is, of course, a global provider of workplace collaboration technology.  Following the certification of ViewSonic’s ViewBoard IFP62 series of interactive displays and CDE30 series of presentation displays on the Crestron Connected technology platform, the partnership will provide a more accessible and simplified approach to audiovisual technology for onsite and offsite work, says the ViewSonic.

“In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, the demand for seamless, centralized management across diverse screens has become more crucial than ever,” says Clifford Chen, general manager of the Presentation Group at ViewSonic. “We are excited to increase our collaboration with Crestron, which aims to deliver unparalleled ease of use and efficient solutions. Moreover, the partnership ensures high-security standard control management for our customers.”

Bob Bavolacco, Creston’s director of technology partner programs, says, “ViewSonic’s commitment to innovation and quality AV solutions makes them an ideal partner for us. The integration of ViewSonic’s product into our Crestron Connected program and the Crestron XiO Cloud platform represents a significant advancement for our AV management ecosystem. We are excited to see how this collaboration will transform the management of audiovisual environments in business spaces, enhancing both the user experience and operational efficiency.”

A Complete AV Ecosystem Provided by ViewSonic and Crestron

To simplify management and increase adaptability, ViewSonic has developed myViewBoard Manager, a web-based management and remote control platform for ViewSonic displays. This partnership enables Crestron’s customers to adopt and manage ViewSonic’s display solutions, such as the features and functionality of the IFP and CDE series, and meeting the diverse requirements of modern work environments. Simultaneously, for ViewSonic customers, this collaboration enhances the utility of their existing IFP62 series and CDE30 series. It enables seamless incorporation into centralized control systems and ensures improved compatibility with various devices from different brands, all supported by Crestron’s platform, says ViewSonic.

Event hosts and presenters can manage their presentation environment using the web-based platform provided by the Crestron XiO Cloud platform or LAN control platform. This includes switching signals/input sources, adjusting image size and audio volume, or broadcasting public messages, particularly beneficial in large forum spaces with multiple displays. Moreover, the adoption of the XiO Cloud remote management feature allows IT administrators to monitor device status from one location, minimizing downtime and streamlining troubleshooting and maintenance processes.

The initial phase of the partnership focuses on integrating ViewSonic’s ViewBoard IFP62 series and CDE30 series, which are widely acclaimed in business environments for facilitating collaborative sessions, says ViewSonic. The company plans to encompass a broader range of its visual solutions in different professional settings to strengthen unified communication capabilities.

VuWall, provider of videowall control systems and unified visualization solutions, provided the SIMOS control center for security and mobility in Stuttgart, Germany with a new videowall control system. The VuWall system, installed by Mevis.tv and specified by consultant Erben Engineering GmbH, comprises 12 VuScape controllers, two VuStream E240 encoders and one VuWall Application Server. Additionally, according to the company, the TRx centralized videowall management platform manages all of the components in the system.

“There are many parts and pieces to deploying a videowall system for a project of this scale and complexity,” says Hans-Joachim Spies, founder and managing director at Mevis.tv. “As an integrator, it’s paramount that everything works together seamlessly. VuWall’s ecosystem exceeded our high standards not only for performance, but also for scalability, flexibility and interoperability. It dramatically reduced our integration time and eliminated any concern about compatibility between the various products within the AV and IP infrastructure. It’s an exceptional system for an exceptional project.”

The Installation

SIMOS houses two independent control centers. This consists of the integrated control center (ILS) and the integrated traffic control center (IVLZ). The ILS provides around-the-clock operation and support for incoming emergency calls for the fire brigade and German Red Cross. Meanwhile, IVLZ is responsible for monitoring all of the city’s traffic and tunnel surveillance cameras. It also monitors electronic traffic display systems on the main roads, which are overseen by four dispatchers from the office for public order, civil engineering office, the Stuttgart tram and the police.

For this project, Mevis.tv installed two videowalls for each of the control centers. The ILS features a videowall comprised of 48 Barco UniSee 55-inch LCD displays. On the other hand, the IVLZ control room videowall features 14 Barco UniSee 55-inch displays. In addition, there are eight displays installed across two crisis meeting rooms that need access to the same sources. Although all these rooms are distinct, the VuWall system provided the organizations with a single, IP-based videowall processing and management system that connects them with a virtual infrastructure.

Ensuring High-Quality Performance

VuWall’s  videowall processor and VuStream encoders ensure high-quality video stream distribution across the network with low latency. It also ensures high performance for up to 4:4:4 of 4K video streams. The Application Server also provides quick access to websites, dashboards and applications from a single, centralized source. It achieves this with the necessary security and without overburdening the network. All these appliances are managed by the TRx centralized videowall management platform. As a result, it enables SIMOS operators to easily control and distribute visual information and data to any display or videowall on the network, says VuWall.

According to VuWall, the TRx is unique in combining AV-over-IP distribution and advanced multi-video wall and KVM management. Its engineering also allows it to be robust enough for multi-room distribution projects such as SIMOS.

The centralized platform ensures intuitive configuration, management and distribution of virtually any source type to any display without any programming. Its simple drag-and-drop capability also saves time for integrators and operators alike. Mevis.tv also benefitted from TRx’s API, which integrates with the organization’s Crestron building control system.

“We are so proud to see that SIMOS is leveraging the modularity, ease of use and reliability we’ve built into our ecosystem, fulfilling their objectives with this incredible project,” says Eric Hénique, EVP of international sales at VuWall. “Operators can see exactly what they need when they need it on the display of their choosing while providing the redundancy and low latency that control rooms demand. Plus, it all works seamlessly within their existing workflow for the most effective distribution of visual information.”

At Zoomtopia 2023, Crestron announced Zoom certification for its Videobar 70 and intelligent video cameras. In addition, the Rockleigh, N.J.-based provider of workplace collaboration technology introduced a new Zoom Phone Appliance and Scheduling Panel with Zoom Rooms software. The company says that these latest updates are part of its commitment to developing a portfolio for Zoom customers with new options that ease their daily workflows.

Brad Hintze, EVP global marketing at Crestron, says, “With Crestron and Zoom, our shared customers know they can expect a high-quality and reliable collaboration experience throughout their enterprise, and Crestron continues to evolve our native Zoom solutions to add even more offerings.”

Zoomtopia 2023 News: Crestron Videobar 70 Approved by Zoom Team

Crestron’s all-in-one collaboration bar, the Videobar 70, has been approved by the Zoom team as a high-performing audio and video device for the Zoom Rooms software. Built on Android OS, the collaboration bar packs four high-resolution cameras with intelligent video capabilities, enabling speaker tracking, group framing, conversation mode, and beamforming microphones into one front-of-room solution. The Videobar 70 can detect speakers up to a 30-foot distance, making it ideal for medium and large conference rooms. Paired with a Crestron touch screen native to the Zoom Rooms platform, one-touch meeting joins and in-meeting control are a tap away for users.

For rooms that require optical PTZ cameras for presenter tracking and group framing, the AutoTracker and AutoFramer intelligent video cameras are now certified for the Zoom Rooms collaboration platform. Ideal for training rooms and classrooms, the AutoTracker cameras enable presenters to speak and move around naturally. Remote participants will be able to see them within the frame of the presentation area. The AutoFramer camera automatically adjusts the camera to frame all in-room participants

Within this quarter, Crestron says, Zoom will also certify the Hawk, which features dual 12x optical PTZ cameras that seamlessly show the active speaker by automatically matching audio location to the closest detected face.

Zoom Phone Appliance

Crestron’s phone product line now includes a Zoom Phone Appliance optimized for individual desktop use in the office or at home. Available in 8-inch and 10-inch touch screen models, the display provides a dedicated meeting device with a camera and 360-degree audio pickup, allowing users to keep their desktops available for other focused work. With the rise of hot desk stations and permanent remote workers, the Crestron Zoom Phone Appliance offers both populations a companion device to reduce overloading their PC for task-switching and improve their productivity.

Scheduling Panel with Zoom Software

Crestron will now offer a native Zoom Scheduling Panel for a consistent user experience both inside and outside of the room for organizations standardized on the Zoom Rooms platform. Crestron has historically offered certified scheduling solutions for Zoom, but this new product SKU will simplify and streamline the ordering process, the company says.

Crestron Electronics, the Rockleigh, N.J.-based, global provider of workplace collaboration technology, introduced the new Crestron Desk Q and Desk Touch.

The company notes a strong demand for hot desking as more organizations are calling employees back to the physical building. Crestron Desk Scheduling offers employees and visitors the freedom to reserve and use a desk at any time throughout the day. Scheduling meeting rooms has been a part of the corporate world for years, but the emergence of spaces like phone booths, digital hives, jump seats, meeting pods and unassigned desks has driven the need for reserving and managing short-term and on-demand spaces.

Need for Desk Booking

Craig Durr, senior analyst at the Futurum Group says, “The concept of hot desking now encompasses not only the physical office and meeting spaces but also the enabling of technology and devices, making scheduling a comprehensive category in itself. Crestron has been leading meeting space scheduling for years; it is a natural progression to bring that same functionality to spaces where individual employees are working.”

Crestron Desk Scheduling solutions provide a transition to floating hot desk areas and offices by enabling remote workers to schedule a location for their time on-site before leaving home directly from the booking software on their laptop. For in-office employees, highly visible LED status indicators display which desks are available, enabling them to reserve a space on the compact touchscreen or through a QR code scan.

The desk booking experience facilitates higher adoption and utilization for both regularly scheduled hybrid employees and visiting remote workers alike, says Crestron.

“Scheduling is a part of our daily lives. As organizations look to create a better hybrid work environment for their employees and an improved understanding of how and where people are working in the office, we must look outside just the meeting space,” explains Brad Hintze, EVP of global marketing, Crestron.

He adds, “Hot desking has quickly become the crucial technology in workplace design. Businesses are prioritizing their space management strategies to create a welcoming and productive office environment that maximizes office real estate investment.”

Crestron Desk Scheduling Applications and Availability

Two form factors and multiple mounting options make it simple to deploy Crestron Desk Scheduling products across any space and purposefully integrate them into the natural flow and aesthetic of the office, whether on a tabletop, wall mount or desk edge, says the company. The compact form factor of the Desk Q with QR-code-based reservations is ideal for community workstations, hot desks, and hoteling, while the touch interface of the Desk Touch is ideal for semi-private offices, cubicles and even stand-ups.

As with existing Crestron scheduling solutions, the Crestron Desk Touch and Desk Q will be able to be managed and deployed through the Crestron XiO Cloud Management Platform, which can also deploy updates as Crestron continues to innovate and improve.

At launch, Crestron Desk Scheduling solutions will natively support Appspace, Calven, and Tango software, with new partners added over time and at request.

Per a statement, the Desk Touch is now shipping, and the Desk Q will ship in Q1 2024.

Crestron announced the largest expansion of its Digital Workplace portfolio to date at its Modern Work Summit, held this week in Madrid, Spain. The global workplace collaboration technology provider introduced the following range of hybrid meeting solutions across the enterprise:

“We aim to be the ultimate partner for organizations seeking complete room solutions, company-wide workplace platforms or both,” states Brad Hintze, Crestron EVP global marketing. “Our goal is to provide a seamless and consistent experience across every room in the workplace, regardless of its size or function. We strive to be the driving force behind workplace technology solutions that make a tangible difference in how people work. The new products in the Crestron portfolio make this happen.”

Hybrid meetings have become essential for businesses to operate. Crestron provides enterprises with the tools to enable effective audio and video collaboration in every space, utilizing a broad product catalog and powerful management tools. In contrast, other solutions may require cobbling together multiple vendors to achieve the same level of reach and functionality across the enterprise.

Crestron Air Media Connect Adapter Bundled with Microsoft Teams

The AirMedia Connect Adaptor is a one-touch, plug-and-play wireless presentation solution for wireless conferencing. Crestron and Microsoft will launch an AirMedia collaboration bundle for Microsoft Teams software that will afford Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) and Microsoft Teams meetings in even more spaces. According to Crestron, the AirMedia Connect Adaptor is the only adaptor optimized by Microsoft for wireless collaboration, eliminating the need for an application to present and conference.

Craig DurrAccording to Craig Durr, a senior analyst at Wainhouse Research, “I am bullish to see Crestron as the first major vendor in the managed BYOD space. Working with Microsoft, they have released a BYOD solution with a very aggressive price point that can run the Microsoft application. The solution addresses a gap within the Microsoft ecosystem where BYOD is still a preferred solution for collaboration. For end users, the AirMedia Connect Adaptor easily connects to a laptop, and offers a user-friendly BYOD experience akin to a Microsoft Rooms-lite approach. For IT administrators, the solution is manageable. Everybody wins.”

Crestron Air Media Connect

Enabling Seamless BYOD Collaboration in Any Type of Room

BYOD is a leading request of organizations that want a simple way to bring meeting capabilities to smaller or non-traditional collaboration spaces where they may not want to deploy full third-party collaboration infrastructure. The AirMedia Connect Adaptor works with various platforms for added flexibility, but the Microsoft Teams software variation adds even more convenience for organizations that have chosen a standard meeting platform.

How does Crestron’s AirMedia Connect Adaptor Work?

Users will need to plug the AirMedia Connect Adaptor into the local device’s USB-C connector, use the quick-touch buttons, and present or conference with no need to install additional software or adjust user access. Users have the option to join virtual meetings using their preferred device.

The AirMedia Connect Adaptor allows for content transmission in up to 4K/30p, so users never have to worry that their image or video quality will suffer. All content transmitted utilizes encryption, so guests won’t have to worry about using new networks, and hosts won’t have to worry about unwanted intrusions.

A Gateway to Better Meetings

For Microsoft Teams users constantly moving to and from their office, the AirMedia Connect Adaptor will streamline BYOD workplace experience, says the company.

When using Crestron room technologies, the AirMedia collaboration technology can integrate seamlessly. Thus, it creates an intelligent experience that includes occupancy sensors to wake the room, touchscreens to manage schedules and controls, and the Crestron DigitalMedia platform for wired presentation and content distribution, without requiring extensive programming in each room.

Managing AirMedia Devices

As with all Crestron devices, provisioning and managing AirMedia devices can be done remotely with zero-touch provisioning through the Crestron XiO Cloud Management System, which can also be used to deploy firmware updates, keeping the system updated without needing new installations or hardware replacements.

With Crestron, organizations have access to a suite of hybrid meeting solutions that can be easily and seamlessly integrated to meet their unique needs without relying on multiple vendors or products.

Ilya Bukshteyn“At Microsoft, we understand the vital role of hybrid meetings in supporting effective collaboration in today’s workplace. It’s essential to have hardware solutions that are certified to integrate seamlessly with Microsoft Teams and meet the needs of small, medium, and large meeting spaces. We are pleased to see Crestron’s continued commitment to innovation in this area. Their dedication to empowering customers with comprehensive hybrid meeting solutions makes them an invaluable partner,” says Ilya Bukshteyn, vice president, Microsoft Teams Calling and Devices at Microsoft.

The Desk Q with QR-code-based reservations is ideal for community workstations, hot desks, and hoteling, while the touch interface of Desk Touch is ideal for semi-private offices, cubicles and even stand-up spaces, says the company.

Crestron Flex Pods

Crestron Flex Pods provide high-quality tabletop audio to meeting spaces, transforming a room to work as needed for each meeting, without being confined to fixed in-ceiling microphones or speakers.

The Crestron Flex Pods Hub is a wireless receiver that is connected to the room UC device and communicates wirelessly with multiple (up to four) Crestron Flex Pods that can be placed throughout the room.

Crestron Flex Pods can be deployed as part of a Crestron Flex or AirMedia Wireless Collaboration Kit or standalone to seamlessly integrate with existing Crestron Flex C-Kits, AirMedia Receivers, or other BYOD solutions.

Rockleight, N.J.-based Crestron Electronics, prominent provider of workplace collaboration technology, announced the new AirMedia Connect Adaptor, a one-touch, plug-and-play wireless presentation solution for wireless conferencing.

On the heels of Microsoft’s keynote at Enterprise Connect 2023, Crestron and Microsoft will launch an AirMedia collaboration bundle for Microsoft Teams software. The companies thus aim to bring BYOD and Microsoft Teams meetings to more spaces.

Per Crestron, the AirMedia Connect Adaptor is the only dongle optimized by Microsoft for wireless collaboration. Thus, it helps eliminate the need for an application to present and conference.

“Whether you’re in a huddle room, lounge or mixed-use room, effective hybrid work requires the ability to easily present and conference without jumping through hoops,” says Lauren Simmen, director of commercial product marketing for Crestron. “The plug-and-play AirMedia Connect Adaptor allows users to collaborate more freely using their personal devices and any outfitted display to riff on an impromptu brainstorm or deliver a formal business presentation.”

Enabling BYOD Collaboration

women talking with colleagues in meetingCrestron adds that the AirMedia Connect Adaptor works with various platforms for added flexibility. However, the Microsoft Teams software variation adds even more convenience for organizations that have a standard meeting platform.

With the press of a button, users can instantly join virtual meeting participants using their device of choice. Here, they can also take advantage of the high-quality audio and video in-room peripherals.

When used for wireless presentation, the AirMedia Connect Adaptor allows for content transmission in up to 4K/30p. As a result, users never have to worry about their image or video quality. Additionally, all content transmitted utilizes encryption. With this, guests don’t have to worry about using new networks. Additionally, hosts won’t have to worry about unwanted intrusions.

With its wireless presentation capability and upcoming wireless conferencing functionality, the AirMedia Connect Adaptor increases meeting efficiency and productivity. It also allows for greater choice in device type, meeting format and location. According to Crestron, each is an increasingly relevant factor as enterprises navigate returns to the office. Users can also plug the AirMedia Connect Adaptor into the local device’s USB-C connector. They can then use the quick-touch buttons to present without installing additional software or adjusting user access.

Streamlining the BYOD Workplace

For Microsoft Teams users constantly moving to and from their office, the AirMedia Connect Adaptor will streamline their BYOD workplace experience. Where Crestron essential room technologies are in place, AirMedia collaboration technology integrates natively to create a robust, intelligent experience. Here, occupancy sensors wake the room up, touchscreens manage schedules and controls, and the Crestron DigitalMedia platform enables wired presentation and content distribution. What’s more, it achieves this without the hassle of extensive programming in each room.

As with all Crestron devices, provisioning and managing AirMedia devices can be done remotely with zero-touch provisioning through the Crestron XiO Cloud Management System, which can also be used to deploy firmware updates, keeping the system updated without needing new installations or hardware replacements.

Availability

The AirMedia Connect Adaptor with wireless presentation will begin shipping in April, says Crestron. Additionally, an upcoming firmware update in Q2 2023 will enable full wireless conferencing capabilities. The BYOD Crestron AirMedia and Microsoft Teams bundle will ship in Q4 2023.

Crestron Electronics, prominent in workplace-collaboration technology, announced it is taking the Modern Work Summit to Madrid following the success of the inaugural event in Orlando last year. Modern Work Summit 2023 is a two-day, in-person event centered around companies’ journeys toward a dynamic, digital workplace.

According to the N.J.-based company, the summit aims to inspire digital-workplace specialists, IT managers, facilities representatives and HR leaders to proactively rethink the modern workplace. It will also cover the cultural shifts and realignments of today’s organizational climate. Notable speakers will thus highlight how the physical workspace is being repurposed and redesigned, and reveal the technological factors pivotal in transforming how we work.

Crestron adds that recent research from its latest report, Tackling the Modern Workplace by the Numbers, shows that 84% of employees regularly have at least one remote participant in their meetings. The dynamic of a meeting changes as it becomes hybrid, and trends like these are accelerating the need for decisive strategies that foster productivity and collaboration.

“As technology innovators, collaboration and purpose-built solutions that foster productivity have always been top of mind for the AV/IT industry. The shift to hybrid and its growing popularity as a mainstay in today’s workforce has expanded that perspective to include every aspect of a workspace beyond just the digital tools,” says Brad Hintze, EVP of marketing at Crestron.

Hintze continues, “The Modern Work Summit is a unique opportunity for leaders from various factions of a business to come together, hear from experts in the field, and equip themselves with the strategies needed to set their employees up for success in the workplace.”

Keynote Speakers at Modern Work Summit 2023

Crestron notes keynote speakers, author Andreas Ekstrom and futurist Philip Ross, will kick off the discussions. Additionally, representatives from Microsoft, Intel, Gensler, Jabra, Accenture, and Wainhouse Research will also present their latest findings and learnings. During his session, Ross will outline a manifesto for ‘unworking.’ Here, he will expand on unlearning old habits and rituals established for an outdated office and creating new ones fit for an age of digital technology, design innovation and diverse workforces.

Ekstrom is a Swedish journalist and author with unequivocal and compelling ideas on how to organize changes for the future of the workplace, Crestron notes. His keynote will discuss the balance between liberty and control, independence, and detailed coaching.

“How do we make decisions in the digital workplace? How are we inventing a new idea of collective work while not being together in the same room? These are the most difficult challenges for the digital decade and the Modern Work Summit will be a fantastic forum for our presenters and attendees to think forward on how to address these challenges,” says Ekstrom. “During the Modern Work Summit, I’ll challenge the attendees to think, analyze, and reconfigure the skills they already have.”

Crestron acknowledges organizing The Modern Work Summit 2023 with the support of industry partners New Wave Workspace, Steelcase, Sony and Sennheiser. The event will take place in Madrid, Spain, on May 23 and 24, 2023 at the Madrid Marriot Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center. It will also be held in parallel with Crestron Masters.

NETGEAR, Inc., a provider of networking products has announced that four models of its versatile M4250 AV Line Series switches are now available directly through Crestron. The N.J.-based Crestron, is of course, the global provider of workplace collaboration automation technologies.

As a dominant player in the growing transition to AV-over-IP, Crestron will resell select NETGEAR AV switches as a part of the Crestron DM NAX Audio-over-IP and DM NVX AV-over-IP solutions.

“As leaders in our respective spaces, NETGEAR and Crestron share a similar vision for flawless AV-over-IP deployments,” says Laurent Masia, director of product line management, managed switches at NETGEAR. “We’re pleased to enhance our partnership ensuring our customers are able to bring their projects to life as seamlessly as possible.”

NETGEAR AV’s M4250 line of switches are designed to work out of the box for most AV-over-IP installations—and this is the case for Crestron DM NAX and DM NVX endpoints as well. Most other network switches require complex and time-consuming configurations to function properly. M4250 switches provide an incredibly simple configuration for AV-over-IP deployments, enabling streamlined integration with Crestron DM NAX and DM NVX solutions. The result is less time spent configuring the switch and more time to focus on the other parts of the installation.

“Our goal is to continuously evolve our ecosystem to fit into as many use cases as possible, including conference rooms, active learning classrooms, huddle spaces, homes, and many more,” says Ekin Binal, director of product Management AV solutions at Crestron.

“Working with NETGEAR and making these switches available through our extensive network ensures that our dealers have the best technology and scalability available to support their growing AV deployments.”

NETGEAR AV M4250 Series Switches Support AV-over-IP Systems

The NETGEAR AV M4250 Series switches are unique in the industry through its built-in AV-oriented GUI, which NETGEAR states, provide integrators with a clean aesthetic and multiple mounting options. The AV GUI provides a simple AV friendly, template-based approach to switch configuration removing all the complex menus filled with arcane IT network jargon. This streamlined workflow enables AV integrators and installers to dive right into projects with the confidence that all the network settings are correct for their AV application.

With both desktop and rackmount models, the M4250 switches offer multiple mounting options depending on the installation. In addition, to further support the deployment of these products, all Crestron M4250 models provide Power over Ethernet (PoE) for single cable power and data delivery.
