Samsung has officially made its expanded line of 2020 QLED 4K and 8K TV models available for purchase and pre-order.
This comes after the company previewed the new displays at recent professional audiovisual industry events like CES 2020 and ISE 2020.
This year’s releases include an expanded 8K series, larger screen sizes, improved artificial intelligence capabilities and upgraded picture and sound features.
In a statement, Senior Vice President of Consumer Electronics James Fishler said this year’s QLED line is the “best of both worlds.”
“With industry leading picture quality, breathtaking design and smart capabilities that are as useful as they are innovative, the 2020 QLED line exceeds our consumers’ expectations,” Fishler said. “Whether it’s the new ‘infinity screen’ that virtually eliminates bezels, the new Quantum Processors that push the boundaries of resolution, or our Smart TV Powered by Tizen that expands access to entertainment, wellness and control, our 2020 QLED line is perfectly positioned to deliver the personalized experiences our consumers care about the most.”
According to Samsung, both 4K and 8K TVs come in a wide range of sizes, and the 8K line has expanded to three series that come in four sizes ranging from 65 to 85 inches: Q950TS, Q900TS and Q800T.

The 4K line includes the Q90T, Q80T, Q70T and Q60T, which range in size from 43 to 85 inches.
Samsung calls the Q950TS the company’s first to combine 8K picture quality with surround-sound audio and a virtually invisible bezel and 15-millimeter width, offering a screen-to-body ratio of about 99% and allowing it to be mounted flush against a wall.
Other new features of the Samsung QLED TVs include:
- Local power distribution and Quantum HDR to fine-tune dimming zones, provide 20% more brightness and full-range contrast.
- AI Quantum Processor 8K and new neural network to upscale all non-8K content and an adaptive picture feature that utilizes a built-in sensor to analyze the brightness of the room
- Sound enhancements like object tracking sound that provide audio aligned with the picture, new speakers on the front, sides and back of the display and active voice amplifier for real-time noise intelligence
- Samsung Symphony feature that pairs the TV speaker with Samsung soundbars
- Enhancements to its gaming capabilities
- An updated ambient mode with more options
