VMware is releasing enhancements to its Anywhere Workspace platform and the Workspace ONE architecture designed to enable high performance and scalability and reduce management time and cost of virtual app and desktop environments.
The Palo Alto, Calif.-based tech giant says the enhancements enable IT teams to run more efficient digital workspaces that deliver productive and reliable experiences for their hybrid workforce.
The enhancements are highlighted by a new modernized Workspace ONE SaaS architecture that VMware says is designed to drive a 10-fold improvement in performance and scale.
The features include better performance and stability that allows customers to scale deployments to millions of devices with a high performance on resource workloads, including improved resource delivery performance for apps and profiles across all device platforms and better console load times.
In addition, the new Workspace ONE architecture allows for more responsive development and better product reliability, so IT teams can rely on VMware for same-day feature support for the latest OEM and platform configurations, the company says.
According to VMware, the redesigned architecture also powers new platform services including Workspace ONE Freestyle Orchestrator and Desired State Management, giving customers low-code and automated toolkit to help IT solve higher order business problems across endpoint management, security and user experience.
VMware is also expanding the use of Freestyle Orchestrator capabilities beyond unified endpoint management use cases, and legacy automations are now replaced by the Unified Freestyle Orchestrator canvas. This allows customers to build the same policy-based workflows but with a modern, low-code canvas user interface.
In addition, the company announced the general availability of the new Workspace ONE Marketplace, featuring integrations that allow organizations to connect third-party cloud applications and access pre-packaged solutions sch as actions, templates and scripts. These offerings are designed to streamline onboarding and offboarding, license optimization, security quarantine workflows and more.
VMware is also building on the Apps on Demand functionality released last year powered by VMware App Volumes with the release of Apps on Demand for published apps. This is designed to help IT reduce management time and infrastructure costs of traditional published app deployments.
According to VMware, IT can eliminate the need for a dedicated app farm infrastructure with a modern app delivery model to deploy apps on demand as users access them to generic RDSH servers.
Shankar Iyer, senior vice president and general manager of end-user computing at VMware, says in a statement that organizations must continue to evolve along with hybrid work trends.
“We believe that automation powered by data science can greatly improve operational efficiency while transforming the IT workforce,” Iyer says. “87% of organizations surveyed in a recent VMware report1 say they’ve increased their automation investment in the last two years. The new Anywhere Workspace platform enhancements announced today will give organizations the power to seamlessly integrate automation into every step of their IT workflow.”
