Microsoft continues to integrate the generative AI technology that underpins ChatGPT throughout its portfolio of enterprise tools, this time announcing that it is bringing the “Copilot” tool in the company’s employee experience and engagement product Viva later this year.
Copilot in Microsoft Viva, the Redmond, Wash.-based IT giant says, takes advantage of next-generation AI to accelerate new employee performance metrics that equally value productivity and engagement. The tool combines large language models with an organization’s data in the Microsoft Graph and Viva apps to give leaders a new way to engage employees.
According to Microsoft, Copilot in Microsoft Viva Goals helps simplify goal setting by guiding leaders through the process of creating goals and simplifying goal management across the organization. The AI tool can suggest draft objective and key results (OKRs) based on existing Word documents such as business plans or product strategies.
Once created, Copilot summarizes the status of OKRs, identifies blockers and suggests nest steps, helping save employees time. Copilot can also consolidate existing data to generate more comprehensive check-ins so teams can leverage knowledge across different sources, Microsoft says.
Meanwhile, Copilot in Viva Engage is designed to help leaders better engage employees by generating compelling posts from simple prompts or trending workplace topics. Leaders can leverage Copilot for suggestions to personalize messages and adjust their tone and length.
In addition, leaders can use Copilot to analyze engagement metrics, access sentiment and recommend responses, Microsoft says in a blog post.
For employee training and learning, Microsoft is also bringing Copilot to Viva Learning, where the generative AI assistant will suggest curated learning collections and concise knowledge summaries that are tailored to specific roles or development needs.
Copilot will also be in Microsoft Viva Topics, where employees can use a conversational interface to learn more about relevant topics and see related topics and projects. In Answers, Copilot will help users construct questions with the appropriate specificity and completeness and extract relevant topics to help categorize the question.
Microsoft also announced the addition of Viva Glint to the Viva Suite to help organizations measure and improve employee engagement to drive business outcomes. Copilot will also come to Glint to help summarize and analyze employee comments to give leaders an easy way to explore feedback by asking questions through natural language.
Copilot in Microsoft Viva comes after the company announced the integration of the OpenAI large language models throughout its Microsoft 365 suite of productivity tools, Dynamics 365, security tools and more.
