Cisco’s DNS Spaces app and ServiceNow are partnering on a new integration that to enhance contact tracing and help organizations manage the return to the workplace amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Cisco’s DNA Spaces, a location-based application and analytics tool, will integrate with ServiceNow’s Contact Tracing app and allow joint customers to import location-based data into the ServiceNow app to identify potential interactions with an affected employee.
Using the Wi-Fi network connections to employees’ laptops or mobile devices, proximity reporting from Cisco DNA Spaces will give customers a better understanding of each interaction and potential exposuire to floors and buildings across the workplace.
The companies hope this will help reduce workplace transmissions of COVID-19 and other diseases by identifying on-site employees who may have been in contact with an affected person.
Blake McConnell, senior vice president of employee workflow products at ServiceNow, said in a statement the company is committed to innovating and expanding the company’s Safe Workplace suite to help organizations keep their employees safe.

“Through the power of the Now Platform, we are helping our customers navigate this uncharted territory and solve the unique challenges that arise as a result of the pandemic, so that companies and employees can feel confident and safe about returning to the workplace,” he said.
The integration will make it easier for customers to deploy and manage end-to-end return to workplace solutions, said Rajesh Reddy, head of product for Cisco DNA Spaces, in a statement.
“Our customers can confidently introduce return to work policies knowing they have a solution to react quickly to an incident, while also protecting the privacy of employees,” Reddy said.
Simultaneously, ServiceNow is introducing its Employee Travel Safety app as part of the Safe Workplace suite. Through the app, organizations can pre-authorize business travel for employees based on the safety of their destination.
Features of the app include automatic health verification efore and during travel and daily contact tracing check-ins.
