In this episode of My TechDecisions Podcast, host Jonathan Blackwood speaks with Jon Litt, Senior Manager of Networked Display Solutions with the control and video wall team for Christie Digital.
As Senior Manager of the Christie Networked Display Solutions, a special applications division within Christie Digital focused on video wall solutions for control rooms, visualization, simulation, architectural, artistic and digital signage applications, Jon Litt manages the business development, sales engineering and sales efforts, activities, and sales teams throughout North America, Latin America and South America.
Jon’s extensive knowledge of AV systems, and control room applications specifically, is on full display in our interview. The potential applications for control rooms vary from organization to organization, but Jon explains some of the reasons any organization would want to implement control room technology. From tracking statistics to monitoring surveillance to reading and visualizing data coming from sensors anywhere in the world, control rooms can help companies better understand what is happening with their operation.
In the interview Jon explains what kind of technology is found in typical control rooms, and what technology you’ll need to build a control room of your own. He speaks about the different video wall types that can go into a control room and why you might want to choose one over another. He gives examples of real customers that he’s worked with using control rooms to drive business intelligence and better perform.
We then discuss analytics at length. Analytics give way to business intelligence which can allow organizations to make decisions based on real data. Analytics can also provide information to avoid or deal with problems occurring in real time. The trick of properly utilizing analytics is to visualize them correctly – Jon explains why visualization is important and gives some examples of how organizations are using visualization tactics today.
