On the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday—huge days for Amazon—is the annual AWS re:Invent tech event, held in Las Vegas, Nov. 26-30. As IT operators prepared for the shopping rush on Amazon, the importance of the cloud became even clearer. The timing of the re:Invent couldn’t be better as IT pros are still pondering connectivity, Internet security and the cloud.
Cloud connectivity, naturally, is an important element of re:Invent with attendees seeking solutions for solutions for the digital transformations of their businesses. Amazon Web Services (AWS) and it’s re:Invent event demanded a cloud and network provider that could deliver an amazing experience. It’s choice: CenturyLink.
Given the pace at which technology changes, evolves and advances, you’d think an event like re:Invent would, well, be continually reinventing itself with new providers, vendors and focus. But CenturyLink has been a constant force at the show for five consecutive years.
For the show CenturyLink deployed 180 Gbps of bandwidth to support more than 85,000 devices at eight interconnected venues. Keynotes, live streams, breakout sessions, hands-on labs, boot camps, hackathons, workshops, and certification exams are being delivered by CenturyLink Cloud Connect solutions, a service capable of delivering real-time connections between data centers and AWS cloud services. To help support the event, CenturyLink deployed AWS Direct Connect.
“While many organizations know that direct connectivity to the cloud helps ensure network consistency, it’s not always clear how integrated combinations of backbone, routing and orchestration can optimize cloud applications,” says CenturyLink senior vice president, core network and technology solutions Paul Savill. “We present a number of innovative approaches to optimizing application deployment through control of the underlying network infrastructure.”
Attendees of re:Invent are able to get more details about cloud connectivity from CenturyLink executives at two sessions: “Milliseconds Matter: Optimize Cloud Apps with Network Control,” and “Dynamic Connections: the Network You Need the Moment You Need It.”
