NETGEAR, the San Jose, Calif.-based provider of networking devices for SMBs, has introduced two Insight Managed 52-port Smart Cloud Switches with more capacity for growing businesses, and updated its Insight Cloud management system, adding functionality and Power over Ethernet (PoE) controls.
Dubbed the Insight Managed Smart Cloud GC752X and GC752XP, the new units are, according to NETGEAR, the first 52-port Gigabit Ethernet Switches with 2 SFP and 2 SFP+ 10G ports with Insight management. The GC752XP adds 48-ports of PoE+ with a whopping 505W PoE power budget. as well. Both new products can be managed by the NETGEAR Insight app or Insight Cloud Portal, which enables setup with anywhere remote/cloud monitoring, management, and advanced security.
“These versatile new Smart Cloud Switches will empower today’s small and medium business to better leverage the cloud, Internet of Things (IoT) and other IP devices to facilitate growth,” said Richard Jonker, vice president of product line management for SMB products at NETGEAR, in a press statement. “Larger businesses and schools can use onsite, cloud or mobile to manage all Insight switches, access points and ReadyNAS devices. The GC752X and GC752XP offer lots of PoE power, uplinks and ports for expansion while delivering whisper-quiet operation for easy placement of devices. Our Insight Managed Smart Cloud switches don’t require complex software, additional hardware, or a large IT staff to power your business-critical infrastructure.”
According to NETGEAR, all Insight Managed products are fully-integrated, cloud-manageable devices that require no additional hardware, such as cloud keys, local servers, VPN, or proxy appliances. Additionally, there is no complex setup required to connect directly to the cloud. NETGEAR Insight Managed products are also fully functional networking and storage solutions in local mode and do not require cloud connectivity to function. This capability allows each customer to decide when and how to use the cloud-connected solution and provides the ability to change modes as required.
Key features of the new switches include:

The newest additions to the Insight Managed line join six existing Cloud Switches ranging from 10 ports to 28, all of which are fully-integrated, cloud-manageable products for SMBs.
Th new release of the Insight Cloud management system, named Insight 5.0, is designed to enable easier device onboarding, intuitive set-up, and remote network management and monitoring. New features include:

Firmware Scheduler: Insight 4.0 already provides pop-up notifications. The updated Firmware Scheduler in Insight 5.0 also lets users create automated update schedules.

Improved security with two-factor authentication: Insight 5.0 provides more security with the addition of two-factor authentication, which lets you require users to respond to a push notification or SMS text message via their phone in addition to supplying their login credentials.
- Improved in-app support: Insight 5.0 provides access to the NETGEAR knowledge base and support videos directly through the Insight app, for speedier troubleshooting. It also gives access to NETGEAR chat/phone info, and allows users to open a support case right through the app.
NETGEAR released 8- and 16-port unmanaged switches with Power over Ethernet last month.
