Marshall Electronics announced its new line of Uni-Conn Series Switchers, Converters and Cameras earlier this month.
The goal of this new series is to provide end users a packaged solution of unified communications products. With this series, end users have the opportunity to “mix and match” which solutions would best fit their technology requirements.
“Uni-Conn comes from two words: unify and connect,” says Perry Goldstein, Director of Digital Technologies for Marshall Electronics. “When we talk about unify and connect, we talk about unifying our message and connecting it with the outside world.”
The Uni-Conn line features the VSW-2200 4-Camera Video Switcher, which can be used for live streaming and broadcast production. The line also includes multiple video converters, such as HDMI/HDSDI to USB 3.0 Converters and the HD POV video cameras.
Marshall Electronics will also introduce the AC series from MXL Microphones as part of the line in the near future.
Goldstein says the Uni-Conn line will be a big benefactor for end users in the higher education market due to its ability to launch messages to multiple sources.
“If I’m the professor, I’m taking my message, I’m unifying it and I’m connecting to all the people who want to hear my message, whether it’s in a conference room, classroom, or a personal conference,” he says. “Now it’s totally interactive.”
Perry also says the Uni-Conn line will enable colleges to measure its ROI by how many students sign up for classes, and how engaged they are in those classes.
“In college, people pay to be in class,” he says. “People are going to pay to watch something online, if it’s pertinent, important information. But, if they tune in to an amateur performance, or if they can’t hear what’s being said, and it’s just a one-camera system that’s sitting on top of a T.V., it will get shut down. [By] delivering a high-quality audio/video performance, people are going to sign on, stay engaged and say, this is great, I saw everything I needed to see to get information for that class. I think that’s where you’ll get your ROI – increased enrollment and increased participation in these classes.”
