Last week, Spanning, an EMC company, released the results of a survey of 1,037 US and UK IT professionals, comparing the two regions in terms of SaaS adoption, data protection and compliance.
Key among the findings was that accidental deletion of information is the leading cause of data loss from SaaS applications (43 percent US; 41 percent UK), ahead of data loss caused by malicious insiders and hackers. The data also revealed insights into who is responsible for SaaS data protection, organizational confidence in SaaS data protection and the top concerns about moving data to the cloud.
Other key findings:
- Gap exists between perception and reality of SaaS data protection responsibility
- US leads UK in SaaS data protection confidence
- Security is the top concern when moving critical business applications to the cloud
- US and UK differ most on security when it comes to SaaS adoption
- In light of the “E.U.-U.S. Privacy Shield” being put in place, IT professionals in the UK taking a more cautious approach to data sovereignty than their US counterparts
In addition to these findings, Spanning created an infographic that gives some more insight into the findings on both sides of the Atlantic. The infographic points out factual and fictitious pieces of information that came to light thanks to the report. We broke down the infographic in our slideshow.
The full report expands on these findings and introduces much more information. You can download the full report here.
