STEM courses are gaining serious ground in the United States.
In a survey conducted by IESD Inc. on behalf of Vernier Science & Technology, thoughts and perspectives from more than 5,000 science and STEM educators nationwide were recorded and analyzed. Data compiled is regarding the topics of state science curiculum standards, including the adoption of NGSS, STEM programs, courses and initiatives in disticts and schools, priorities for science and STEM courses, challeneges facing STEM education in the United States, instructional tools and resources for science and STEM education and teacher professional development for science and STEM education. Here is a quick snippet of some of the findings:
“The new report provides a comprehensive overview of science and STEM education in today’s classrooms,” said David Vernier, co-founder of Vernier and a former physics teacher. “Both STEM education and the Next Generation Science Standards are changing how educators teach science, and this report helps educators understand how their peers think about science and engineering practices, technology in education, and professional development.”
