Physical security might be a topic that, for a modern IT Director, CIO, or anyone making technology calls at a company or org, may fall by the wayside more easily than they’d care to admit. After all, who has time to worry about security camera systems when so many threats are digital nowadays?
But then again, people’s lives or property could be at risk, so it’s important to choose the right solution for your building or office.
Our colleagues over at Security Sales & Integration looked at multiple instances of poorly installed security cameras, and found some pretty terrifyingly-negligent results. What’s the point of even having a security camera for business if you’re not going to ensure it is installed properly, safely, and securely?
A lot goes into properly choosing a security camera. First, you need to pick the right type for the job. Do you need a dome or bullet model? Point/tilt/zoom or fisheye lens?
You also need to make sure the camera is installed in a proper location, ensuring there are no obstructions and plenty of light if necessary. It’s also important to make sure wiring is properly secured and hidden.
Be warned, the following images will be extremely confusing. Let’s hope nothing like this has ever — or will ever — exist at your organization!
