Typing assistant Grammarly is the latest tech company leveraging generative AI technologies since the emergence of ChatGPT, releasing generative AI writing assistant GrammarlyGO to help workers generate text in the context of a user’s personal voice and brand style.
According to the San Francisco, Calif.-based firm, GrammarlyGO is a contextually aware writing assistant designed to accelerate productivity where users type, with trust, security and authenticity key pieces of the product. The generative AI product will generate text with an understanding of personal voice and brand style, context and intent.
GrammarlyGO will use personal, organizational and situation context to generate text. The tool can be used to rewrite, compose, ideate and reply within applications and websites users are already on to boost efficiency in the flow of work.
Like ChatGPT, Bing and other generative AI tools, GrammarlyGO works with a quick prompt to create a tailored draft right where users are working. The tool can generate quick, relevant replies to emails with one-click prompts such as “I’m interested” or “I’m not interested.”
In addition, GrammarlyGO can be used to edit entire sections of text for clarity, tone, and length, and users have the ability to choose from prompts or input their own to rewrite the selected text.
The tool can also be used as an AI ideation partner to generate outlines or ideas to reference to add directly to text, and users can set their preferred tones and professional role to generate writing.
According to Grammarly, GrammarlyGO will be available across Grammarly’s product offerings—including Grammarly Free (in select markets), Grammarly Premium, Grammarly Business, Grammarly for Education (higher education), and Grammarly for Developers.
Individual users will have GrammarlyGO activated by default and can toggle it off or on in their settings. Grammarly Business and Grammarly for Education administrators will have the option to opt into using GrammarlyGO for their organizations.
The company highlights its nearly 14 years of AI experience and enterprise-grade security safeguards, saying the new generative AI tool will uphold the company’s commitment to security, privacy and responsible AI development.
Rahul Roy-Chowdhury, Grammarly’s global head of product, calls generative AI an inflection point in innovation that the company is leveraging to deliver more value to customers.
“For well over a decade, we’ve delivered the leading AI-enabled communication assistant focused on helping people and businesses overcome the real challenges they face every day,” Roy-Chowdhury says. “Now we enter a new phase in our vision to support our customers across all stages of communication, going past revision into conception and composition—all while maintaining our high standards of quality, privacy, and security.”
