Zoom has announced several new innovations coming to the collaboration giant’s platform, including Zoom Mail and Calendar Clients, a new virtual co-working space, a virtual agent, and new integrations across the Zoom One offering.
The announcements come during Zoomtopia 2022, the San Jose, Calif.-based company’s hybrid event powered by Zoom Events, the company’s virtual event management solution.
Highlighting Zoom’s new innovations is Zoom Mail and Calendar clients and service, launching in beta, which are designed to help keep users on the Zoom platform by giving them access to their email and calendar. Popular email and calendar services will be directly integrated into Zoom, allowing users to access their communications and scheduling and work more efficiently.
In addition, Zoom is rolling out its own hosted email and calendar service options that will also be integrated with the Zoom platform. The company says Zoom Mail Service is end-to-end encrypted for emails sent directly between active Zoom Mail Service users.
Zoom customers in the U.S. and Canada with Zoom One Pro or Zoom Standard Pro plans will also have the ability to set up an email account hosted by Zoom at no additional cost, through the new Zoom Mail Service. Customers with a Zoom One Business or higher plan will even have the ability to set up a custom domain.
According to a Zoom blog, the new mail and calendar options are designed to give users a “toggle tax” break. Oded Gal, the company’s chief product officer, writes that the new products work together with the communication and collaboration offerings already available within Zoom Meetings, Phone, Whiteboard and Team Chat.
“Now, teams can move quickly and seamlessly from email to a video meeting, elevate a chat message to a phone call, collaborate on projects, and early next year, they can share out whiteboards, all without ever leaving the Zoom app,” Gal says.
Also coming to the Zoom platform is Zoom Spots, a new virtual co-working space that Zoom calls a video-enabled persistent space, integrated within the Zoom platform, to help foster inclusive discussions and keep hybrid employees connected.

Zoom is also launching early next year Zoom Virtual Agent, an intelligent conversational AI and chatbot solution to help resolve issues for customers. Zoom says the Virtual Agent will work around-the-clock on multiple support channels to help reduce call volumes to human agents and drive operational efficiencies for businesses. The solution will be offered as a standalone chatbot and fully integrated with Zoom Contact Center.
The videoconferencing giant is also introducing new capabilities in Zoom One, including a new integration between Team Chat and In-Meeting Chat to create an always-on functionality that allows users to flow between both chats to reduce silos and keep projects moving.
