Microsoft on June 1 is releasing the general available of Cloud for Sustainability, a new cloud offering designed to enable organizations to meet their sustainability goals and manage their environmental footprint via centralized data intelligence and more efficient IT infrastructure.
According to the Redmond, Wash. IT giant, the global push toward a net-zero carbon economy requires organizations of all sizes and types to transform their common practices, including better management of their environmental footprint, embedding sustainability through their organization and making business investments that drive value.
However, the missing link in that equation is centralized data intelligence to make informed decisions to address complex sustainability issues while balancing the bottom line.
Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, the company says, is designed to provide that missing link and give organizations the intelligence and data management capabilities needed to “respond to changes with agility and confidence,” Microsoft says in a blog.
The offering includes Microsoft Sustainability Manager, a new tool designed to unify data intelligence from IoT data and devices and services at the edge or in the cloud, to help monitor and measure activities at scale. The tool centralizes previously disparate data and leverages automated data connections to deliver actionable insights , giving organizations a comprehensive view into the environmental impact of their operations.
Microsoft also says its Cloud for Sustainability can also help organizations replace tools, systems or activities with more efficient options by leveraging the Emissions Impact Dashboard, which gives them insight into emissions produced from their use of Microsoft cloud services and devices.
In addition, Microsoft bills the new cloud offering as a way for organizations to maximize asset production efficiencies and reduce the impact of their building and spaces, in addition to helping organizations gain better visibility into the environmental impact of their value chain.
According to the company, much of the benefits of Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability are being offered through a global ecosystem of partners and their solutions, including:
- ABB | Ability™ solutions
