Isn’t it so easy to FaceTime with a friend or family member? The feature for iPhones has been around since 2010, and now that same level of functionality and ease of use is becoming a mandatory tool for conference rooms. Videoconferencing solutions help bring your business into the modern digital age by helping you stay connected to employees, clients and business partners regardless of where they are in the world.
With the world being more connected than ever before, it’s now important that your business goes along with that trend, said John Cory, chief operating officer of Cory’s Audio Visual Services.
“The people you’re communicating with already have it,” Cory says. “It becomes something you need so you can communicate back.”
Fostering remote working
Videoconferencing allows you to have face-to-face conversations with employees that work from home or workers too sick to come to work.
This has several benefits for your internal operations, as employees working from home can take part in meetings so there’s no lost productivity when they’re trying to catch up on what they missed the next day.
It also keeps them engaged and in the loop on important topics so they can still contribute while at home. With legacy teleconferencing devices that don’t include video, there’s no telling what the person is doing on the other side, Cory says.
Videoconferencing helps you keep tabs on your employees during meetings.
“Now they can meet face-to-face and improve productivity,” he said.
Using videoconferencing as a way to promote working remotely is also a human resources and recruiting tool. According to videoconferencing device manufacturer Owl Labs, 34% of U.S. workers would take a pay cut in order to work remotely.
A job interview between hiring managers and a candidate for a job opening could demonstrate that your company is utilizing the latest technology and attract more workers.

A boundless portal
With videoconferencing solutions, your company can turn a simple conferencing room into a portal to the other side of the world. Rather than having to visit your manufacturing plant in China or satellite offices on the other side of the country, you can simply set up a meeting using a variety of software.
This takes the hassle, time and expense out of traveling, which is one of the main selling points of videoconferencing systems, Cory said.
As the world is becoming increasingly connected, enterprises are expecting both their service providers and customers to be able to communicate face-to-face with conferencing systems.
“As technology is evolving and it becomes easier to do web conferencing, it’s almost a requirement,” Cory said, guessing that the majority of modern meeting rooms are now equipped with videoconferencing technology.
“it’s so simple to add that capability into a room,” he said.
If you’re still using a small huddle room for video calls, but you’re using a laptop and Skype, a videoconferencing system will help your company keep up with the capabilities of your competitors.
Cut your carbon footprint
Videoconferencing solutions are designed to replace face-to-face, physical meetings and help you communicate with employees and business partners all over the world.
As such, this will hep your business protect the environment by cutting your carbon footprint and contributions to harmful pollutants that most vehicles emit, Cory says.
“I point to the green initiative, as far as saving your carbon footprint by meeting remotely,” Cory says.
Instead of driving across the state to meet with a client or having all of your employees come to work and fill up the atmosphere with carbon dioxide, you can easily communicate with videoconferencing and take countless vehicles off the road.
This has a few benefits, both in how your organization is perceived by customers and the general public and employees, as research shows younger generations of workers care about the environment and want to work for an environmentally conscious company.
