The role of an IT professional can be very reactionary as they are tasked with tackling complex problems that arise every day while they manage the IT infrastructure of their organization. However, Cisco is aiming to help IT teams anticipate when issues may arise with new predictive network technologies to improve reliability and performance across all operational scenarios.
The San Jose, Calif. company says it is bringing together new predictive technologies with its broad portfolio of observability, visibility and intelligence tools to create a predictive analytics engine to help IT teams prevent issues and elevate the user experience. The company says it has tuned and tested predictive models with customers across various industries to enable greater precision and ease of use.
The company says its predictive networks work by gathering data from various telemetry sources to learn patterns and predict experience user issues before they come up, as well as providing problem solving options. How far and wide the engine is connected to the customer’s network is up to the customer, according to Cisco.
In a press release, Cisco says IT teams are struggling to be proactive, with cybersecurity threats, hybrid work and cloud infrastructure putting pressure on teams to ensure continuous uptime. The company cited its recent Global Networking Trends Report that found 45% of IT leaders cite responding to network disruptions at the top network challenge for 2021.
Many IT teams already use a large amount of AI and automation to create better end-user experiences, helping to speed up incident response times and ensure business continuity — especially at organizations with a limited IT staff.
“The future of connectivity will rely on self-healing networks that can learn, predict and plan,” said Chuck Robbins, Cisco’s chair and CEO, in a statement. “Our research for predictive networks has been tested and developed with customers, and early adopters are seeing major benefits saving them time and money. The industry has been waiting for secure, proactive networking and only Cisco can do it right.”
