Naturally, the answer to this question will vary based on the individual. There are always those same solid conversation-starting, breaking-the-ice questions that we assume you already know to ask.
But what specific App Developer interview questions are tried-and-true in the industry?

You should always carefully consider the individual and their work/extracurricular history before formulating a full list of questions to ask. Also, app developer interviews tend to involve coding tests. But your prep time is limited, and you’re not responsible for administering any tests. What should you ask?

Basic App Developer interview questions
What are the building blocks of an Android app vs. an Apple app?
- Having experience with both is preferable, depending on your org’s needs.
What is DDMS?
- Dalvik Debug Monitor Server — it comes with Android and debugs errors with location data spoofing, screen capture, thread and heap data, etc.
What have users said about some of your apps in reviews on app stores, and have you used any of that feedback in app updates?
- It may be uncomfortable for them to admit, but it’s highly unlikely the app was completely flawless when it was new. If they can honestly answer this question while standing firm in their design decisions, you may have a winner.
What are your thoughts on cross-platform solutions?
- It is understood that cross-platform apps present many benefits – you should give preference to candidates who can accomplish those.
What is your methodology: are you an Agile Developer?
