Mattermost, a favorite collaboration platform among tech workers, is launching a new solution for Microsoft Teams designed to speed up technical workflows.
The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company’s solution, Mattermost for Microsoft Teams, enables technical users to stay connected to Microsoft’s flagship enterprise collaboration platform while collaborating in a highly customized technical collaboration environment that includes integrations with “hundreds” of bespoke tools and automations.
The company says IT teams are deploying Microsoft Teams throughout the organization, but technical teams need more advanced security, customization and automation for mission-critical workflows connecting to sensitive systems.
The company says the Mattermost for Microsoft Teams solution enables IT to provide an extended customization experience for technical and operational teams while staying firmly integrated into the Microsoft 365 platform.
Among the key features are a secure and customizable team messaging extension using Microsoft Teams with shared channels and integrated voice, video, screen share and calendar across the Teams and Mattermost experiences. Additionally, unified user management and authentication through Azure Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services Single-Sign-On is available via the extension.
Essentially, the extension enables Teams users to connect to hundreds of technical and developer systems, as well as custom in-house tools using technologies of choice.
The integration also features a private communications mode for sensitive security and technical IP that allows customers to retain full data control of all messages and files sent. This can be stored outside of Microsoft Teams in customer-controlled encrypted databases on private clouds or public clouds such as Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
Mattermost for Microsoft Teams also features a business continuity mode for technical teams during a Microsoft Teams outage where the solution can be deployed on private or public cloud infrastructure independent of Azure to maintain communications, security and resiliency during a Microsoft 365 outage.
The new solution is available to enterprises with over 2,500 employees with a minimum of 500 technical or operational staff members, the company says.
