Via an expanded partnership with Microsoft, Verizon can now deliver Teams Phone Mobile with the launch of Verizon Mobile for Microsoft Teams, a new service that integrates mobile devices with Teams for easier calling and collaboration.
According to Verizon, this makes the telecommunications giant the first U.S. operator to enable wireless subscribers to use their mobile device’s native dialer to receive calls as a Teams endpoint. The company says the new offering is designed to create a unified business communications experience that harnesses Verizon’s 5G technology to enable workers to use Teams from anywhere.
The company says IT leaders want to improve and consolidate collaboration and calling tools, thereby increasing the availability and responsiveness of a distributed workforce while reducing costs. The mobile-first collaboration experience of Verizon Mobile for Microsoft Teams essentially gives all employees access to Teams capabilities via a single business-provided phone number for both mobile and desktop devices.
Key benefits of the new offering billed by Verizon include the simplicity of a single phone number across devices so context or business presence aren’t lost, the call quality of the Verizon LTE network, seamless call transferring, cost savings and security.
Sampath Sowmyanarayan, CEO of Verizon Business, says customers need true mobilization of unified communications and collaboration to support distributed work environments.
“We’re proud to be the first operator in the United States to unleash Teams Phone Mobile and to help customers further mobilize their workforce through the addition of Verizon Mobile for Microsoft Teams to our robust suite of collaboration and calling solutions,” Sowmyanarayan says. “This is yet another example of how we’re helping customers to adapt and succeed in today’s changing workplace by delivering the flexibility to work from anywhere.”
The expanded partnership combines Microsoft’s 12 million PTSN users with Verizon’s business services, creating a mobile unified communication and collaboration experiences designed to minimize cost and reduce security risks.
Verizon Mobile for Microsoft Teams is the latest in Verizon’s solutions to enable enterprises to enable hybrid workers to communicate and collaborate with Microsoft Teams with Verizon Calling with Microsoft Teams (Direct Routing) and Verizon VoIP for Operator Connect, Verizon says, adding that users can also leverage Verizon’s BlueJeans Gateway for Microsoft Teams.
