More and more, people like to multi-task and they work best on the go. They check email on their smartphones, sync notes from their tablet to their PC and are used to technology that works seamlessly between one location and the next. They don’t like to be tethered by wires and the less setup required for technology the better.
Students also want the freedom to use their devices anywhere, they want to collaborate virtually online and they want their devices to talk to one another. So whether it’s the new iPad or a handheld Nintendo game system, college students expect to be able to connect and to use the device in a dorm, at the local coffee shop or in between classes.
The following slide show has the Top 25 wireless devices coming to dorms. Some of the items on this list offer convenience. The Fitbit Tracker and the Aria scale send health information to all of your mobile devices. Others provide students with much needed options for dorm room setup. Everyone who’s ever lived in a college dorm knows there is never enough space and there are never enough outlets. JamBox wireless speakers and the Logitech wireless keyboard don’t tie students to room design, allowing them to place electronics where they want to rather than where they have to.
And of course, no list for college students would be complete without mobile devices. Whether it’s a tablet, e-reader or mobile game system, there is something on this list for everyone.
